Final Due Date
Task: Use Google presentation to create a 1920’s scrapbook on Google Slides
- Use slang from the 1920’s to make it more authentic!
- Make the slides look like an authentic newspaper
- Every slide should have a title, appropriate background, visible words, pictures ( do not place words over a picture)
- Pages should be numbered in the lower, right hand corner
- Create two fashion pages from the 1920’s. One page will include 5 pictures of women’s fashion (clothing/bathing suits/jewelry/shoes/hats) and the men’s fashion page will include 5 pictures of men’s fashion (hats/suits). Include a background and colored boxes or shapes behind the pictures for pops of color.
- Choose 1 individual from the literature category Below) . Research the person and type an article about them as if you are the reporter. Include important information such as their early life, educational background, lifetime achievements, and books or poems they wrote. Include a picture of the author, a list of books or poems they wrote, pictures of book titles, and a quote by the author. Write the article in columns to resemble a newspaper. Need a MLA ciation
- Create a crossword puzzle or a word search using 10 vocabulary terms from the Roaring 20’s unit. Decorate the page with pictures that correlate to the words and include a puzzle boarder background. Include a key at the end of your project. Goolge word search or crosswrod puzzler maker. Push "Control" "Shift" and battery loking ico (6th one from the left) to crop
- Choose 1 individual from the sports category and create a 10 question typed interview. (like we did in class with the progressives) Include family background, why they got involved in that sport, and major accomplishments. Have questions in one color and the answers in a different color. (total of 2 colors) Answers must be at least three sentences long. Include a picture of the athlete and decorate the page with items that relate to that sport. Need a MLA ciation
- Create an original political cartoon or a comic strip. Choose a position (for or against) on a controversial topic. (i.e. Prohibition, immigration, Sacco and Vanzetti Trial, Scopes trial, women’s rights, Palmer Raids, Red scare) Political cartoons must have symbolism and make a reader think of what your point of view is. Be careful that you do not make your political cartoon look like an advertisement or just a picture.
- Chose 1 person from the Jazz category and chose a song from the 1920’s that you enjoy. Include the lyrics, a picture of the musician, the video clip from YouTube(if possible) and a music note boarder background. Write a summary of what you think the song is about using evidence from the lyrics. This song is about_______. This is evident when the song states “….” In addition, explain why you chose this particular song.
- Create an advertisement for a product from the 1920’s era. Create your own slogan (do not copy a slogan) Do not cut and paste an actual advertisement from the 1920’s.
- Write an obituary based on an actor or actress from the movies category. Use the example on google classroom as a guide. Make sure to include a picture and write it in columns. Need a MLA ciation
- Include a works cited page that has at least 3 websites (article, interview, obituary) you used for your research. Citations must be in MLA format. (Wikipedia is not a reliable source) The VRC has the MLA citations done for you. Use easybib for other sites. This page should be last.
- Include a typed table of contents. This page should come after your cover.
- Design a cover that looks like the front of a newspaper cover. Name your newspaper, add a date, and a realistic price from that time period. The cover should be eye appealing and include major topics and individuals that will be included in your newspaper. Example: Charlie Chaplin dies….p6 or Look inside for Ernest Hemingway’s new book!
